Transitioning from User Spend Limits to Card-Based Limits

As part of your new Jeeves experience, we are transitioning from user spend limits to card-based spend limits. This article will guide you through what this change means and how to correctly configure your Jeeves account.

What Are User Spend Limits?

User spend limits were used to limit the total spending across all cards issued under a single user account, encompassing both physical and virtual cards.

What Are Card-Based Limits?

Card-based limits represent a shift towards assigning specific spending limits directly to each individual card, whether physical or virtual. This means each issued card can have its unique spend limit, independent of other cards within the same user account.

Benefits of Card-Based Limits

Customized Control: Tailor spend limits to the specific needs of each cardholder or project, ensuring funds are used efficiently and according to business priorities.
Enhanced Oversight: Gain clearer insights into spending patterns and easily adjust limits to manage your company’s financial health more effectively.
Simplified Management: Streamline the process of adjusting spend controls by dealing directly with each card, reducing the administrative burden on your team.

How to transition to card limits

To transition from user limits and begin using card limits, you’ll need to move an existing user’s assigned limit to their card or cards. Before migrating, we suggest completing a few preliminary steps:

  1. Plan your card-based limits: Determine the appropriate spend limits for each card based on the cardholder’s role, budgets, or needs.
  2. Communicate with your team: Ensure all cardholders are aware of the change and understand how it will affect their card and spending capabilities. If your users create their own cards, please know this functionality will be default off for all non-admin users unless configured otherwise.
  3. Update your limits: Once you’ve planned your new card-based limits, you can easily update them from your Teams experience.

To migrate from user limits and assign card limits:

  1. Navigate to your Teams experience.
  2. Click on a user to review their existing user limit, visible inside the yellow notification message.
  3. Next, reassign the user limit to a user’s card or distribute between multiple cards. To add a card limit, select the desired card, click the edit icon in the top right corner, and add a Spending limit.

FAQs

Will this change affect all cards automatically?

The transition to card-based limits will be applied to all new cards issued after the changeover date. For existing cards, you will have the option to transition to card-based limits at your convenience by clicking the “Turn off user limit” button inside each user profile.

Can I still set a global limit for my account?

No. While individual card limits will replace user spend limits, you can still manage overall spending by setting appropriate limits for each card and monitoring your total expenditure.

What happens if a card reaches its spend limit?

Just like with user spend limits, once a card reaches its assigned card limit, it will be temporarily unable to make further transactions until the limit is adjusted or the next billing cycle begins.
